You don’t have to have all the answers.
Sometimes we know that something doesn’t feel right, even when we can’t quite explain why. You may be experiencing loss, anxiety, difficulties in relationships, changes in confidence or identity, the effects of illness, or simply feeling that you have lost your sense of direction.
Counselling offers somewhere you can talk openly about what is happening for you. It isn’t about being told what you should think, feel or do. It is an opportunity to explore your own experience with someone who will listen without judgement.
Acceptance begins with being able to be yourself.
ABOUT KAREN
Hello, I’m Karen.
I am a degree-qualified, BACP registered counsellor with ten years’ experience supporting people through difficult, uncertain and changing periods of their lives.
My approach to counselling is person-centred. I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to offer a relationship in which you can feel safe enough to explore what is happening for you and begin to understand yourself more fully.
I also understand the value of being able to sit in the client’s chair. I have experienced counselling myself and know how important it can be to have somewhere you can speak openly, without needing to protect or reassure the person listening.
How I can support you
There is no single reason why someone chooses counselling, and there is no single way that counselling should look.
Individual counselling
A confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
Stroke support
Emotional support for people rebuilding life after stroke and for those caring for someone who has experienced a stroke.

Person-centred counselling
At the heart of my approach is the belief that you know your own experience better than anyone else. Counselling is a collaborative relationship. It is not about a counsellor having all the answers or deciding what is best for you.
Through empathy, honesty and acceptance, I aim to provide the conditions in which you can explore your own thoughts and feelings and find the way forward that is right for you.
In their own words
“I’ve taken so much away from our sessions together, starting to feel more like ‘me’ with each and every day.”
JB
“She showed empathy in the way she spoke in a calm and gentle way, and made me feel safe.”
